IKGPTU organized special Workshop on “Industrial automation, its scope and future” for Electrical Engineering students

Jalandhar, November 21, 2022: In order to close practical & step ahead training to its students, I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) organized a One-day workshop on “Industrial automation its scope and future”. This workshop was organized by the Electrical Engineering Department for the students of B.Tech. (EE) and M.Tech. (EE). The invited experts were from Wonder Automation-Training Division, Industrial area, Mohali Punjab. More than 60 students of the department participated with great enthusiasm. Focus was given to enhance the practical skills of undergraduate and postgraduate students of the department. The invited experts deliberated upon the introduction of various industrial automation systems and highlighted its need in current aspects of artificial intelligence.

In the event patronized by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Nilkanth S. Avhad, IAS, he enlightened the students about the various developments taking place in computational techniques in industrial automation systems. Dr. SK Mishra, Registrar, IKGPTU, congratulated the students for attending this workshop and motivated them for regular updates of their industrial skills in future also.

Dr. Vikas Chawla, Dean of Academics, IKGPTU, inspired the students to further extend the outcome of this workshop in their future profession. In Particular, he stressed upon the need of such workshops to be organized on a regular basis for the students to enhance more experiential learning. During this one-day workshop, industrial experts explained the introduction of programming logic controllers, compared their merits over the relays.

In addition, the need of automation coordinated with sensors was also elaborated during the workshop. During the workshop, the students developed their own small ladder programmes, practiced using controller kits and presented their results to faculty members of the department.

Finally, the workshop ended with a questions answers session and a group photograph. Earlier in the day, the Head of department-Electrical Engineering, Prof. (Dr.) Yadwinder Singh Brar welcomed the guests, and motivated all the students to participate in the workshop with full vigour. He highlighted that the department conducts such activities for their students and faculty members on a regular basis. 

The coordinator of the workshop Dr. Akhil Gupta Assistant Professor, conveyed the scope and expected outcomes of the workshop. During the workshop, faculty members Dr Deepika Bhalla, Dr Naveen Kumar Sharma and entire staff supported the students for successful completion. Head of the department thanked the university staff for the support provided.
