IKGPTU celebrated the 135th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar ji with great enthusiasm

I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) celebrated the 135th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar with great enthusiasm and joy. It was organized in the mentorship of Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal. Registrar Dr. Navdeepak Sandhu graced the occasion as guest of honour.

Jalandhar/Kapurthala, April 15, 2026: I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) celebrated the 135th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar with great enthusiasm and joy. It was organized in the mentorship of Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal. Registrar Dr. Navdeepak Sandhu graced the occasion as guest of honour. The gathering was also addressed by Dr. Navdeepak Sandhu, Registrar, IKGPTU. He shared about the great efforts of Baba Saheb towards the social upliftment and about the system reforms, great constitution of India.
The event featured insightful addresses by distinguished speakers. Dr. Waqar Ahmad Wani (Assistant Professor, HCLS) spoke on the invaluable contribution of Babasaheb in the upliftment of women, highlighting his progressive vision for gender equality. Dr. Sandeep Mehmi (Director, SFC) delivered an engaging talk on Babasaheb’s renowned work, The Buddha and Karl Marx, shedding light on its philosophical and social relevance. Ms. Sandeep Rani (Assistant Professor, St. Soldier Law College) discussed the significance of the Hindu Code Bill and its impact on social reform in India.
Among the notable attendees were Sunil Kumar (DR ITS), Mr. Parmjit Gill (DR SW), along with Raj Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Arvinder, Charanjit, office bearers of SEWAPTU, employees, and students, all of whom contributed to the vibrant spirit of the occasion.
A variety of competitions—including poster making, quiz, speech, and essay writing—were organized to engage participants and promote awareness of Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy. The winners of these competitions were felicitated during the ceremony.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Rajeev Chauhan, Head of the Civil Engineering Department.
