IKGPTU celebrated National Youth Day & Tributes paid to Swami Vivekananda Ji
Faculty, Staff, and Students Participated in the "Run for Swadeshi" Race
Jalandhar/Kapurthala, January 12, 2026: I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU) organized a "Run for Swadeshi" race on the occasion of "National Youth Day". The event, held under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal. Event witnessed great participation from the university's faculty, staff, and students. The race was flagged off by the University's Dean Prof. (Dr.) Praveen Bansal and Registrar Dr. Navdeepak Sandhu. The race covered a distance of 2 kilometers within the university's main campus. The event was organized by the University's Students Welfare Department, NSS & Cultural Wing jointly. Dr.Satvir Singh Dean Students Welfare commanded the whole event gracefully.
Before the race began, A tribute to Swami Vivekananda ji session was organized. Dean Dr Satvir Singh welcomed the University staff, faculty & students in this session. Dr Satvir Singh shared that Swami Vivekananda was born on January 12, 1863. Young people are considered the future of the nation. The progress of any nation depends on the thinking and capabilities of its youth.
Dean R&D Dr. Praveen Bansal shared that National Youth Day is celebrated every year on January 12th across the country to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The main objective of this day is to introduce young people to the inspiring thoughts and ideals of Swami Vivekananda Ji.
Registrar Dr. Navdeepak Sandhu offered floral tributes to Swami Vivekananda on behalf of the university and encouraged everyone to follow his guidance. He said that Swami Vivekananda has been the greatest source of inspiration for the youth. He believed that youth power alone can bring positive change in society. To honor this vision and to make the youth aware of nation-building, the Government of India has declared his birthday as 'National Youth Day'.
On the occasion Dean Academics Prof Dr Yadwinder Singh Brar, Deputy Registrar Dinesh Juneja, Rajneesh Sharma, Coordinator NSS Prof. (Dr.) Chandra Prakash, Assistant Director Sumeer Sharma, and others were present.
