IKG PTU and Punjab & Sindh Bank are jointly organizing "Hackathon 2025"

Jalandhar/Kapurthala, June 7, 2025: I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU) and Punjab & Sindh Bank are jointly organizing a student literacy program cum competition called "Hackathon 2025". The objective of this program is to spread and promote safe, secure and aware financial information & education. This program is being organized as a competition for engineering students of all streams. The students participating in this program will get an opportunity to win an amount of up to 10 lakhs. Engineering students from all campuses and affiliated colleges including the main campus of the university can participate in "Hackathon 2025". The last date for registration to participate in this competition is 15 June.
University Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) Susheel Mittal has asked students of all engineering streams to participate in it enthusiastically. He said that such opportunities prove helpful in honing talent, working with team spirit and moving forward. He has inspired students to participate in it to the maximum extent possible.
Sharing information on this subject, the committee spokesperson said that both the institutions are organizing this program while taking forward the initiative of the Ministry of Finance and Department of Financial Services of the Government of India. Its theme is "Secure and Aware Financial Education". The final goal of this "Hackathon 2025" is to develop a mobile app that increases financial knowledge and also protects and alerts users from fraud. In this competition, the innovation, technical feasibility, commercial potential, scalability, user experience and multilingual information installed in the mobile app will be assessed as the evaluation criteria. Participation in the competition can be done at the team level, in which there can be 3-5 students per team (only engineering students can participate) and one faculty coordinator per team. There is a provision of a prize of five lakhs as the first prize, while the second prize is Rs 3 lakh and the third prize is Rs 2 lakh. All shortlisted teams will also be given certificates.
