IIA-LC celebrates World Heritage Day

Ludhiana, April 18, 2014: The Indian Institute of Architects-Ludhiana Centre (IIA-LC) celebrated “World Heritage Day” in Ludhiana on Friday.

Sanjay Goel, chairman of IIA-LC delivered a lecture to the students highlighting the importance of conservation and preservation of rich heritage at the city and national level both.

He also elaborated that for architects it becomes very important to understand that destroying beautiful lineage of buildings in the name of urban development, will only drive them away from the roots of our profession.

This day marks the necessity of protecting the “Historical monuments and Sites” located in every part of the world by making collective efforts at International level.

Talking about Ludhiana city, quite a few very famous heritage buildings like The Clock Tower, The Christ Church, The Lodhi Fort, The Sunet Village, Mughal Sarai and many more were brought into light and their present condition was found to be very disheartening, thus it becomes our moral responsibility to take care and conserve our heritage.

The seminar was attended by office-bearers and executive member Architects of IIA-LC, including Harinder Boparai, Yogesh Singla, Rajan Tangri, Bimaldeep Singh, Balbir Bagga, Harpreet Kaur Dhillon, Tarsem Goyal, Baljit Bawa, Sumit Sharma, Harsharan Singh, Randhir Singh, Ishita, Ankur, Nidhi Raheja and Khushboo Raheja.
