Ignoring Taksali families suicidal for SAD; Sukhbir Badal must heed Sri Akal Takht Sahib directives - Peermohammad
Expressing deep concern over the declining political graph of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Karnail Singh Peermohammad, Senior Vice President of SAD (Punar Surjit), strongly cautioned party president Sukhbir Singh Badal that sidelining the families of veteran 'Taksali' leaders under the influence of "wrong advisors" will prove to be political suicide.
Tarn Taran, April 18, 2026: Expressing deep concern over the declining political graph of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Karnail Singh Peermohammad, Senior Vice President of SAD (Punar Surjit), strongly cautioned party president Sukhbir Singh Badal that sidelining the families of veteran 'Taksali' leaders under the influence of "wrong advisors" will prove to be political suicide.
Peermohammad emphasized that the only path to the party's revival and broader Panthic unity goes through absolute submission to the supremacy of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
Advising the SAD president, he stated that all future decisions and party appointments must be strictly based on the December 2 Hukamnama (edict). "Mere political manipulations and the blind distribution of posts will not strengthen the party. Every grassroots worker and Taksali leader must feel that their honor is secure. The decisions taken under the influence of wrong advisors have scattered our core strength and bred deep disappointment among the Panthic ranks," he asserted.
Highlighting the true legacy of the party, Peermohammad said that the All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) and the families of legendary stalwarts—such as the late Jathedar Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, Gurcharan Singh Tohra, Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Surjit Singh Barnala, Jathedar Prem Singh Lalpura, Mohan Singh Tur, Sewa Singh Sekhwan, Prakash Singh Majitha, Jagdev Singh Talwandi, and Capt. Kanwaljit Singh—are the actual soul and strength of the Akal Dal. He noted that restoring their due respect is the only way for the party to stand on its feet, win back public trust, and lay the foundation for a future Panthic government in Punjab.
Urging the SAD leadership to introspect, he added, "The time has come to abandon personal vested interests and accept the directives of Sri Akal Takht Sahib as supreme. This is the only secret to the Akali Dal's revival."
Peermohammad further announced that taking a proactive step, SAD (Punar Surjit) has constituted an eight-member 'Ekta Committee' (Unity Committee). This committee will actively coordinate with Panthic organizations dedicated to Sri Akal Takht Sahib to fulfill the resolution of Panthic unity.
