If Tibetan government in exile can run from Dharamshala then why not Central University: Sudhir Sharma

Dharamshala, February 28, 2023: Congress MLA from Dharamshala, Sudhir Sharma said, “Himachal's only Central University has been stuck in politics for the last 15 years. There has been fierce politics in Dharamshala, Dehra and Shahpur regarding its campus. Now politics will not be allowed on this subject.” MLA from Dharamshala and former Urban Development Minister Sudhir Sharma further said, “This city has a fundamental right to the Central University.”

Sudhir Sharma said that when the central government approved 13 central universities in 2009, conspiracies against Dharamshala started and BJP leaders are guilty of taking Central University away from Dharamshala. “BJP has always conspired  against   Dharamshala,  it will not be allowed to  happen now. He added, “BJP leaders  have always double crossed the public on this issue.  BJP was in power in Himachal and Delhi for the last five years, so why was this project not cleared? BJP leaders lack willpower. equivocal statements came from their MPs and MLAs on this issue. Now this will not be allowed to happen.”

In a press statement issued here today Secretary All India Congress Committee Sudhir Sharma  said that regardless of the conspiracies of the BJP, the Congress had sanctioned 700 acres of land for the construction of the main campus in Dharamshala. When the BJP government came to power in the state, efforts were made to shift the campus from Dharamshala to Dehra. He said that enough is enough. The interests of Dharamshala will not be allowed to be played with any further.

Sudhir Sharma clarified his stand and said that he is not against CU in any particular area, but Dharamshala should get its right. Arguing in favor of Dharamshala, Sudhir Sharma said, “ Tibet's government-in-exile can run from McLeodganj, so why not the Central University ? Dharamshala is the only city from where the entire country of Tibet  runs in Exile . All the security agencies are here. The name of this city is known all over the world. Apart from this, the famous old degree college of the country is here. The Himachal Board of Education operates from Dharamshala. Dharamshala also has B.Ed College, JBT Institute. The city has world class coaching centers for the students.”

“The city has the most beautiful cricket stadium in the world. There are one thousand hotels. Many of these have five star facilities. All these facilities in Dharamshala make this city different from others. With CU's campus in Dharamshala, students and teachers will get an education environment. With CU being in a smart city, students and educationists will come from India and abroad. This city has a fundamental right to the Central University,” said Sharma.
