If shortage of electricity is not controlled, industry of Punjab can shift to other states: Kalia
Manoranjan Kalia Former Minister Punjab and Former State President BJP Punjab.

Jalandhar: Manoranjan Kalia Former Minister Punjab and Former State President BJP Punjab said in a press statement that people of Punjab have been already facing the undeclared residential  power cuts in the cities and Punjab Government has also failed to supply 8 hours electricity to agriculture as committed.   Now another brunt has been lashed out today on the industry through an order. The said order says that one weekly off day shall be observed with immediate effect on General Industry (LS) and rolling mills consumers and furnace Industry. The said order has come at 8.00 a.m. today when the Industry has already started working, thereby causing a financial loss of the raw material in process. There should have been at least 24 hours notice to the industry to be able to prepare itself for the power cut. It speaks volumes about the callous working of Captain Amrinder Singh Government.

He added that every year before summer season, pre-emptive preparedness are to be made by Power-com, keeping in view  the increase in the demand of electricity. Since Chief Minister Punjab Capt Amarinder Singh is busy in fire fighting within the Congress Party to douse the rising dissatisfaction among the Congress Legislatures, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has little time to administer the government. That is the reason Congress Government has failed to address the increase in the demand of electricity in summer. The 630 M.W. Lehran Mohabbat Thermal Power Plant has been shut down.  During the month of June only, 20,000 transformers stood burnt causing a loss of Rs 12 Crore to Power-Com. Both have added to the woes of people of Punjab in summer   season. During the four and a half years rule of Congress. There is no addition in power generation keeping in view the increase in the demand of electricity. Moreover there is no regular Chairman of the Power -Com. The Punjab Government has given the Additional Charge to a Senior I.A.S. Officer. It shows that the Capt Government is not serious about the smooth functioning of Power-Com.

Kalia further said that if the shortage of electricity is not controlled, the industry of Punjab can shift to other states especially in Himachal Pradesh. Congress Party will have to pay the price in the coming assembly elections.
