If MPs Are Beaten, Imagine the Fate of Students": Randhawa Slams Delhi Police

New Delhi/Chandigarh, July 21, 2026: Lok Sabha MP and former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, strongly condemned the detention of Members of Parliament and Congress workers, as well as what he described as the brutal action by the Delhi Police during a peaceful Congress protest in Delhi over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and concerns regarding students' futures.
Randhawa said, "We have come to the Prime Minister's residence to demand accountability for the blood of students. If this is how Members of Parliament are being treated, imagine what students must be going through." He alleged that the Modi government, after jeopardizing the future of the country's youth, is now relying on the police to evade accountability.
Randhawa demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan immediately resign, taking moral responsibility for the situation. He stated that the Delhi Police's treatment of peacefully protesting MPs and Congress workers was highly condemnable and unacceptable. According to him, detaining elected representatives and using force to suppress a peaceful demonstration demonstrates that the government is choosing repression over confronting the truth.
Randhawa further stated that every attempt to silence students' voices through the use of batons is an attack on democracy. He said that the nation's youth are standing up for their rights, and the Congress Party stands firmly with them. He held the Central Government fully responsible for what he described as this shameful incident.
He added that this is not merely an issue concerning NEET, but a question of the trust of millions of young people across the country. When the fairness of examinations is questioned and students demand justice, the government's foremost duty is to provide answers—not to hide behind police action. He asserted that the Congress Party will continue to raise this issue forcefully, from the streets to Parliament. Any injustice toward the future of the country's youth will not be tolerated, and the government will be held accountable at every forum.
