IET welcomes Dr Siddhartha Kargupta as Chair of Data and AI Working Group of IET Future Tech Panel

Bangalore, July 6, 2023:  The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has announced Dr Siddhartha Kargupta, Chief Data Officer, Tata Digital as the new Chair of the Data and AI Working Group of the IET Future Tech Panel. 


Dr Kargupta will spearhead the initiatives of the Data and AI Working Group, which focuses on amplifying awareness, encouraging innovation and accelerating adoption of Data and AI technologies. He will help creating technology roadmaps that will be beneficial to the growth of the country. He will play a pivotal role in advancing the Working Group’s efforts towards curating and influencing policies on ethics, privacy and adoption for the development of the AI and data ecosystems.

Dr Kargupta holds a Bachelors in Electrical Engg, a Masters and a PhD in Computer Science from UCL (University College London), which renders a balanced blend of his academic and industry experience. Throughout his career, he has actively sought innovative solutions to complex challenges, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to drive impactful outcomes. He has received commendation and a medallion from the erstwhile Prime Minister of UK (Mr David Cameron) for an outstanding contribution in delivering a faultless Borders System for the 2012 London Olympics. He was also awarded the IT Director’s Award for the most significant contribution to Virgin Atlantic’s Enterprise Systems landscape.


Speaking on his expectations from the new role at the IET, Dr Siddhartha Kargupta, Chair - Data and AI Working Group, IET Future Tech Panel said, “I am excited to be associated with the IET Future Tech Panel and contribute towards becoming an enabling force for Data and AI technology in India. Today, India is at the precipice of becoming a global hotspot for technology innovation. Through the IET, I am eager to collaborate with various industry stakeholders to drive innovation, ethical practices, and social impact through Data and AI technologies.
