ICAR-CIPHET organised National Webinar on ‘Bioactive peptide from fish waste’ to share scientific experience of turning waste into wealth

Ludhiana, January 11, 2022: To commemorate Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering Technology (CIPHET), Ludhiana organised a National Webinar to share scientific knowleghe to its stakeholders. Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana welcomed partcipants and briefed about the different R&D activities and technologies of the Institute and shared the rationale behind the technology series and knowledge series commenced under national webinar. In its Knowledge Series-FishTalk, first talk was delivered on ‘Fish collagen peptides and their anti-osteoporotic properties’ by Dr. Robinson Jeya Shakila, Professor and Head, Department of Fish Quality Assurance & Management,TNJFU, Thoothukudi and second talk on ‘Anti-hypertensive peptides from fish processing waste’ by Mr. Vikas Kumar, Scientist, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana today (10 January 2022). Both the experts justified the potential of waste utilization in extraction of bioactive (anti- osteoporotic and anti-hypertensive) peptides, showed the way of extraction, briefed about market potential and put forward future thrust area of research and entrepreneusrship. With latest statistics and experimental resuls added with years of experience in  R&D, they responded to about a dozen queries asked by the partcipants. Under the chairmanship of Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana and guidance of Dr. D. N. Yadav, Head, TOT Division, this national webinar was coordinated by Mr. Vikas Kumar and Dr. Sandeep P. Dawange, Scientist, TOT Division. With registrations received from partcipants of 10 different countries,  more than 100 partcipants participated and interacted enthistically.
