Ludhiana, August 14, 2026: Makhana is a naturally organic and nutrient-rich crop that has witnessed a significant increase in market demand and value in recent years. However, conventional flavoured makhana products often contain up to 30% added oil, resulting in higher caloric content and potentially reducing their health benefits.
To address this concern, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana, has developed an innovative “Process for Preparation of Fat-Free Flavoured Makhana”, enabling the production of healthier flavoured makhana without the addition of oil. The technology was developed by Dr. Mridula Devi, Dr. R.K. Vishwakarma, Dr. Ranjeet Singh, Dr. R.K. Singh, and Dr. S.N. Jha.
Anmol Vishnoi of M/s Purist Global, Uttar Pradesh, approached ICAR-CIPHET for licensing of the technology. The technology transfer process was facilitated by Dr. Ranjeet Singh, In-charge, ITMU. Following successful completion of the training, the technology licensing and training certificate was formally presented to Vishnoi by Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director, ICAR-CIPHET, on 12 August 2026.
