ICAR-CIPHET Conducts MGMG Awareness Campaign on Soil Health & Balanced Fertilizer Use in Ludhiana
Under the Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav (MGMG) programme, ICAR-CIPHET successfully conducted an awareness campaign on soil health management and balanced fertilizer use in village Malakpur Bet, district Ludhiana.
Ludhiana, April 30, 2026: Under the Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav (MGMG) programme, ICAR-CIPHET successfully conducted an awareness campaign on soil health management and balanced fertilizer use in village Malakpur Bet, district Ludhiana. The programme was led by Dr. Ranjeet Singh, Principal Scientist and Head, TOT Division, along with a team of scientists and technical staff. A total of 23 participants, including farmers and villagers, actively attended the session.
During the interaction, farmers were educated on the importance of judicious and need-based fertilizer application to maintain soil fertility and reduce input costs. The team emphasized sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural practices, including integrated nutrient management, vermicomposting, use of biofertilizers, and natural farming approaches. Farmers were also guided on crop planning strategies to reduce excessive dependence on chemical fertilizers. The response from farmers and rural youth was highly encouraging, with many expressing willingness to adopt the recommended practices despite initial challenges.
The team highlighted the need for continuous follow-up, field demonstrations, and regular awareness programmes to ensure effective adoption of these improved agricultural practices. The campaign proved impactful in enhancing awareness about soil health and promoting sustainable agriculture in the adopted village.
