RCF Kapurthala to produce 1,729 coaches in current fiscal
Kapurthala, August 16, 2013: 67th Independence Day was celebrated with great zeal at Rail Coach Factory (RCF) on Thursday.
BN Rajshekhar, General Manager, RCF was the chief guest. He hoisted the National flag. He inspected various platoons and took a salute from the parade.
In his address, he said RCF was on the path of development over the period. He revealed that RCF manufactured 1,680 coaches during previous fiscal (2012-13). It was a record production of the coaches, he said, adding in the corresponding period (2011-12) RCF had manufactured a total 1,501 coaches. As such, the production of coaches was 12 per cent more in the fiscal ending March this year as compared to the corresponding period.
He further said RCF was awarded with Best production Unit Shield by Railway Board for this achievement. He also said a target of producing 1,729 coaches had been given to RCF Kapurthala for current fiscal (2013-14), and hoped that they would achieve the given target.
He said RCF Kapurthala had been working for the last 25 years and so far more than 27,000 coaches had been produced for Indian Railways, which was more than 50 per cent of the total coaches of Indian Railways plying across the country.
