Hundreds of residents form human chain, takes up bike/car rally to sensitize voters in Gill and Atam Nagar constituencies 

To sensitise the residents  and encourage them to exercise their 'Right to Vote' on June 1 (voting day), residents and Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) teams of Gill and Atam Nagar constituencies formed human chain and took up bike/car rally near Phullanwal chowk on Wednesday.

Ludhiana, April 24, 2024: To sensitise the residents  and encourage them to exercise their 'Right to Vote' on June 1 (voting day), residents and Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) teams of Gill and Atam Nagar constituencies formed human chain and took up bike/car rally near Phullanwal chowk on Wednesday. 

Regional Transport Officer (RTO)-cum-Assistant Returning Officer (ARO-Gill) Randeep Singh Heer, Panchayat Members of Phullanwal among others also participated in the awareness events.

The human chain was formed from Phullanwal chowk to Basant City chowk and around 700 residents participated in the same. The bike/car rally commenced from Phullanwal chowk and concluded at Omaxe apartments on Pakhowal road. A voter awareness program was also organised to sensitize the residents of Omaxe apartments. 

ARO Randeep Singh Heer said that working on the directions of District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney, a large number of voter awareness activities are being organised across the district under SVEEP program to encourage the voters.

The aim of district administration is to ensure maximum participation during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections and to achieve the target of more than 70 per cent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar).

ARO Heer said more such awareness activities would be conducted in the coming days to encourage the voters. Urging all the eligible residents in the district to enrol themselves as voters, ARO Heer further stated that the eligible first time voters can use 'Voter Helpline' mobile application and National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) for enrolling themselves as voters. The residents can also visit www.nvsp.in to register themselves as voters. Voter registration for Lok Sabha-2024 elections can be done till May 4, 2024.

Meanwhile, DEO Sakshi Sawhney said that the district administration is committed to hold free, fair and transparent elections in the district and the residents should cast their vote without any fear and without coming under anyone's influence. She further said that every effort is being made to facilitate the voters at the polling stations on polling days (June 1).

SVEEP Nodal Officers Ravinder Kumar, OP Kapoor, Satwinder Singh Siidhu, Jaswinder Singh, Master Trainer Amanpreet Singh Ghai among others were also present during the awareness events.
