HPCA Women's team qualify from North Zone for All India Women U-19 Tournament

Dharamsala, November 4, 2013:Tanuja Kanwar and Sushmita Negi helped HPCA women cricket team to  squeeze victory in a tight game with Punjab  to make it to All India Women U-19 Final where it will play qualifying team from other zone in Mumbai.

The tourney that began on October 23 has been witnessing league matches between ten zonal teams from North, South, East, West and Central Zone. The Women's team from Himachal will battle for the winning trophy against the qualifying team from other zone in Mumbai on November 20. Prior to which semi finals will be played on November 18 between the top two teams from each group.

 The tournament being hosted by BCCI  saw five teams playing in the series from North Zone, namely Himachal, Punjab, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir and Delhi. HPCA has emerged as finalists from North Zone by beating JKCA, HCA and PCA. However, the last league match with DDCA came to a draw.

 Tanuja Kanwar has shown an exemplary performance in the three league matches played so far. She has to her kitty a total 142 runs and 4 wickets in 3 matches. Noteworthy is also the great performance by the Captain of the team Sushmita Negi who bagged a total of 8 wickets by giving 66 runs in 54 overs in the league matches. HPCA is hopeful of getting the winning trophy home as they are high on spirits and the performance chart shows the zeal in them to bring home laurels.
