HP Central University Dharamsala gets land for its Dehra Campus

Dharamshala: For the construction of its Dehra Campus (55kms from Dharamsala) of Himachal Pradesh Central University all hurdles in land transfer have been cleared.

The university administration has got the possession of 81 Hectares of forest land approved by the central and state
government in Dehra to the university.

On Monday, the land papers were handed over to the university in the presence of forest department and university administration officials. On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor of the University Dr  Roshan Lal Sharma, Registrar Hemraj, Forest Department Officer Dr. RK Dogra, SDM Dhanveer Thakur of Dehra and MLA Hoshiar Singh were present.

It is worth mentioning that the plan of construction of university campus in Dehra has been going on for more than 11 years. The University has got 81 hectares of forest land and 34 hectares of non-forest land in Dehra. Out of this, 34 hectares of non-forest land was handed over to the university, in the year 2016-2017. But, this 34-hectares of land of forest department, was awaiting clearance.

Now, the central and state governments have handed over the land papers to the university administration for the construction of the campus and have given possession of the land.

On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr.Roshan Lal Sharma expressed happiness and said, “Today is a historic day for the University. For this, there has been a lot of cooperation from the local administration to the state government and the central government. Now the university administration will take the next steps for the construction of the university campus as soon as possible.”

At the same time, the Registrar of the University, Hemraj, who was present on the occasion, has thanked central minister Anurag Thakur and State Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur for handing over the possession of the land to the university administration.

He expressed hope that the proposed land to be given to the university at Jadrangal in Dharamsala would also get clearance soon, so that the University’s Dharamsala campus could also be constructed soon.
