Hosting Santosh Trophy will improve Chandigarh football: President CFA KP Singh

Chandigarh, November 20, 2021: AIFF's North Zone Santosh Trophy will start in Chandigarh from November 21, at the Sector 7 Sports Complex. On the opening day,  two matches will be played. 
This is for the first time that Chandigarh has been entrusted with hosting this big tournament and the Chandigarh Football Association (CFA) has completed its preparations. 
Along with host Chandigarh, team of Services, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh will vie to win the top position.
All the matches will be played at the ground of Sports Complex Sector-7.
CFA President KP Singh said this is one of the biggest tournament hosted by Chandigarh Football Association. 
He further said that it will take Chandigarh football a level further. The President said that the CFA have tried their best to make it a success and have also tried to keep everyone safe from Covid. 
"We have kept the players in a safe environment and everyone's Covid test has also been done. This is necessary and we have also sanitized every place including the ground, the staff and officials have also underwent testing," said Singh.
Along with President KP Singh, other officials of the association were also present.
President KP Singh thanked All India Football Federation (AIFF) who have considered Chandigarh as capable for the event. " AIFF President Praful Patel and Secretary Kushal Das have entrusted this hosting to us, we will make it a success in any case. We would also like to thank the Chandigarh Administration and the Sports Department for providing us with excellent infrastructure. The entire team of Chandigarh Football Association has contributed in this because everyone has worked together for it. I thank everyone for this. Paras Hospital will also be with us as a health partner," said Singh.
Former India captain Harjinder Singh will take over as the chief coach of the Chandigarh football team. He will be accompanied by senior coach Muzammil and former international footballer Sanjeev Madiya as coaches. AFC Instructor Sajid has been made Technical Director. Harjinder Singh said that till now this city has contributed significantly in junior football and now Chandigarh will contribute in senior football as well. We have worked very hard with the host Chandigarh team and will continue to strive to take Chandigarh football higher. I will be available for football whenever I need it.l, said Harjinder.
