Hospitals registered with Medlar Society authorised to register medico legal reports

Chandigarh, May 19, 2014: Punjab Government has nominated all Government and Private Hospitals registered with the Medlar Society to register Medico Legal Reports in the state. It has been made mandatory for all these hospitals to use Medico-Legal Reports software for registering Medico Legal reports. Punjab Medlar Society has been constituted for training, compliance & monitoring of implementation of this software.

Disclosing this here today Vini Mahajan Principal Secretary Health & Family Welfare Department, Punjab said that Medico Legal report of only those hospitals would be valid which would be registered under Medlar Society.

She said that post mortems done in government institutes would be acceptable as earlier. She added that only those hospitals would be nominated to register under Medlar Society in which doctors registered with the Punjab Medical Council/ Medical Council of India are working.

Vini Mahajan added that all Medico legal reports would be computerised as Punjab government has implemented Medico-Legal Reports software for all the Doctors working in Government or Private Hospitals. She said that all the doctors who conduct MLRs may get the password issued for access to the software from the appropriate authority.
