Horticulture college bag Youth Festival Trophy
The College of Horticulture, Nauni was declared the overall champion of the Annual Inter-College Youth Festival held at Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, which concluded on Friday evening. The three-day festival witnessed enthusiastic participation from all four constituent colleges in a wide range of literary, theatre, fine arts, music and dance events. Solan Additional Deputy Commissioner Rahul Jain graced the concluding ceremony as the Chief Guest.
The College of Horticulture, Nauni was declared the overall champion of the Annual Inter-College Youth Festival held at Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, which concluded on Friday evening. The three-day festival witnessed enthusiastic participation from all four constituent colleges in a wide range of literary, theatre, fine arts, music and dance events. On the final day, the most awaited Group Dance competition was held, where the team from Thunag College delivered the best performance, followed by the College of Horticulture in second place. In the overall results, Horticulture College lifted the Youth Championship Trophy while Forestry College was declared the runner-up.
In the literary category, Osheen Sharma from Horticulture secured the first place in Debate while Preetika from Neri stood second. In Elocution, both prizes were won by Horticulture students, Eleen Chauhan and Siya Sharma. In Extempore, Priya Thakur from Horticulture secured the top position while Shaifali Sharma from Forestry came second.
Theatre events also saw strong participation, with Horticulture College winning the Skit competition and Neri College taking second place. In Mime, Forestry and Neri were jointly declared winners while Horticulture secured second place. In Mono Acting, Aditi Thakur from Horticulture won first place and Diksha Himta from Forestry stood second. The One Act Play competition was won by Horticulture College, with Thunag College finishing second. The Best Actor awards were presented to Sujal and Anshika Parmar from Thunag College.
In music events, Himshika from Forestry won first place in Light Vocal while Deepak Thakur from Thunag secured second position. Forestry also won the Patriotic Song event, with Thunag finishing second. In Solo Classical Dance and Group Song, Forestry College secured the first positions, followed by Horticulture in second place.
Fine arts events saw Aditi Sharma from Forestry win first place in Painting, with Rohini Mehta from Horticulture standing second. In Collage Making, Horticulture students Shraddha Sharma and Yashvi Sharma took the top two positions. In Rangoli, the first prize was won by Kritik Bhatia from Forestry, while Kanishka from Thunag won second. In Poster Making, the first prize went to Radhika Bhardwaj from Neri, while Jigyasa and Vanshika jointly secured second place. Horticulture College topped both the Literary and Fine Arts category and the Theatre category, while Forestry College secured the Music and Dance trophy, followed by Thunag in second place.
The Chief Guest distributed the prizes and appreciated the students for presenting vibrant and culturally rich performances. He said it was heartening to witness the display of Himachal Pradesh’s heritage and praised the university for providing a platform for students to nurture and showcase their talents. He added that such festivals play a vital role in confidence building and overall personality development. Earlier, Dr. H.P. Sankhyan, Dean Students’ Welfare, presented a detailed report of the Youth Festival and expressed gratitude to the judges and participants for their spirited contribution to the event.
