Hooda seeks immediate paddy procurement, alleges farmers forced to sell below MSP

Rohtak, September 27, 2026: Former Haryana chief minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday demanded immediate procurement of paddy and bajra, alleging that farmers were being forced to sell their produce at rates up to ₹400 per quintal below the MSP.
Hooda, who addressed gatherings in Makrauli Khurd, Ladhaut, Makrauli Kalan, Nasirpur, Chamaria, Sisroli and Sanghi villages, said paddy and bajra arrivals had picked up but government procurement was yet to begin properly.
He alleged that farmers were also facing inadequate storage, weighing and lifting arrangements at mandis, while procurement limits were causing long waits.
Hooda said the BJP had promised to procure paddy at ₹3,100 per quintal but had failed to honour the commitment. He alleged that farmers were now struggling even to secure the MSP.
His remarks come amid ongoing concerns over delayed paddy procurement in Haryana. The state government has said bajra farmers will be assured ₹2,900 per quintal under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana, while paddy procurement arrangements are being reviewed.
Hooda also criticised the government over unemployment, law and order, employees’ demands and farmers’ issues, and said the Congress would continue its campaign against the BJP government.
