Hooda launches statewide fight against BJP from home turf
Former Haryana chief minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday used his Garhi-Sampla-Kiloi stronghold to sound the bugle for a wider political campaign against the BJP, seeking a mandate from villagers to take the fight across the state.

Rohtak, September 23, 2026: Former Haryana chief minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday used his Garhi-Sampla-Kiloi stronghold to sound the bugle for a wider political campaign against the BJP, seeking a mandate from villagers to take the fight across the state.
Addressing village gatherings during his constituency tour, Hooda said the people were his “real strength” and asked whether he should begin an “all-out struggle” against the BJP across Haryana. Villagers raised their hands in support and urged him to continue the campaign until the BJP was voted out of power.
Hooda began the tour from Village Brahmanwas and addressed meetings in Basantpur, Dhamar, Rithal, Kanhi, Jasiya, Ghilod Khurd and Ghilod Kalan. He said he would take the blessings of his home constituency to the rest of Haryana.
The Congress leader also renewed his allegations of irregularities in the 2024 Assembly election, claiming the BJP benefited from electoral manipulation. He said the party’s next battle would be against both the BJP and alleged electoral malpractice. The Election Commission has rejected allegations of large-scale manipulation of voter rolls.
Hooda attacked the BJP government over unemployment, crime, corruption and the state’s economic performance, claiming Haryana had slipped on key development indicators.
The village-to-village campaign will continue through October 4, covering around 50 villages in Garhi-Sampla-Kiloi.
