Home Science College Shines Again by Securing 35th Rank in NIRF India Rankings 2025
Government Home Science College, Sector 10, Chandigarh, has once again brought laurels to the city by securing the 35th position at the national level in the NIRF India Rankings 2025, released today by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The announcement was made by Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan. With this achievement, the college has emerged as the top-ranked institution among all colleges in the tricity for the seventh year in a row, reaffirming its legacy of academic excellence.

Chandigarh, September 4, 2025: Government Home Science College, Sector 10, Chandigarh, has once again brought laurels to the city by securing the 35th position at the national level in the NIRF India Rankings 2025, released today by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The announcement was made by Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan. With this achievement, the college has emerged as the top-ranked institution among all colleges in the tricity for the seventh year in a row, reaffirming its legacy of academic excellence.
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) evaluates institutions on six key parameters, namely Teaching, Learning and Resources; Graduation Outcomes; Research and Professional Practice; Outreach and Inclusivity; and Perception. In the 2025 assessment, the college secured a score of 74.78 in Teaching, Learning and Resources, 83.84 in Graduation Outcomes, 68.05 in Outreach and Inclusivity, 18.04 in Research and Professional Practice, and 18 in Perception.
In this year’s rankings, the college made a remarkable leap from 51st position in 2024 to 35th position in 2025, placing it among the top 50 colleges in India. This marks the seventh consecutive year that Government Home Science College has figured in the list of top 100 institutions nationwide, a rare and distinguished accomplishment.
Notably, it is the only government or private college in the tricity to have secured a place in the top 50 at the national level, further highlighting its outstanding academic and institutional performance.
Principal Prof. Sudha Katyal congratulated the students, faculty, staff, and alumni for this prestigious achievement. She attributed the success to the relentless hard work, commitment, and dedication of the entire Home Science College fraternity.
