Holiday in Punjab offices in Chandigarh on April 10 and 30 due to polls

Chandigarh, April 4, 2014: The Punjab Government  today  notified public holiday on April 10 in all government offices/Boards/Corporations and educational institutions of Punjab  Government located in Chandigarh only on account of General Elections of the Lok Sabha in Union Territory.

According to information the employees, who were voters of Chandigarh (U.T.)/ Haryana State and working in the offices/Boards/Corporations and educational institutions of government of Punjab located in Punjab and other than Chandigarh may be allowed special leave on 10^th April upon production of their voter card to the competent authority. This leave would not be deducted from the leave account of employees.

In a separate order the Punjab Government also declared a Public Holiday on April 30 in Punjab. The order said this Public Holiday would be applicable to all government offices in state of Punjab located in Punjab and Chandigarh, all offices/boards/corporations of Government of Punjab located in Punjab and at Chandigarh and all educational institutions within the state of Punjab.

The order said that April 30 would be also holiday within the meaning of section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act 1881 within the state of Punjab.
