Hiten Tejwani and Gautam Vig’s Short Film Wins Filmfare, Sparks Conversation on Modern Relationships

Veteran television star Hiten Tejwani and popular actor Gautam Vig have yet another reason to celebrate as their short film Divorce, directed by Raghav Kansal, has won a prestigious Filmfare Award, cementing its impact both critically and emotionally. The short film has struck a deep chord with audiences for its honest portrayal of relationships, communication gaps, and the emotional turmoil that often goes unnoticed in modern-day marriages.

Divorce delves into the fragile dynamics of a relationship where misunderstandings quietly build walls between two people who once shared love and trust. Actress Sneh Mishra is seen taking the story forward with her performance.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the film, director Raghav Kansal shared, “I saw a lot of people around me choosing to part ways, and I just couldn’t ponder on the fact that mere miscommunications were leading to such extreme steps. It felt important to tell this story now, because the times we are living in—this subject resonates deeply with it.”

Hiten Tejwani, who brings depth and maturity to his character, expressed his gratitude for the Filmfare recognition. He said, “This film is very close to my heart because it speaks about things we often ignore in relationships. Sometimes, it’s not the lack of love but the lack of conversation that creates distance. Winning Filmfare for a story like this feels incredibly special.”

Actor Gautam Vig, who plays a pivotal role in the film, believes that Divorce reflects the emotional reality of today’s generation. He said, “What attracted me to this project was its honesty. The story doesn’t blame either side—it simply shows how silence and assumptions can slowly destroy something beautiful. I’m extremely thankful that audiences and Filmfare understood and appreciated this message.”

The Filmfare win is a significant milestone for short-format storytelling, proving that powerful narratives don’t require grand sets or lengthy screen time—just authenticity and emotional truth.

As conversations around mental health, relationships, and emotional well-being continue to gain importance, Divorce arrives as a timely reminder that communication can be the strongest bridge—or the deepest divide.
