History of Ram Temple was created in Palampur of Himachal in 1989: Shanta Kumar

Dharamshala: Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Shanta Kumar said, “The foundation stone of Ram temple in Ayodhya will always be written in golden letters in India’s history. After 500 years of struggle, sacrifice and court cases, the construction of the temple of Lord Rama will finally begin.”

In a statement released here Shanta said, “This occasion is very important for Himachal Pradesh and especially for Palampur. On 11 June 1989, the Bharatiya Janata Party passed this historic resolution in Palampur, after which the BJP firmly entrenched in the Ram Mandir movement. Shri Lal Krishna Advani took out the historic Rath Yatra. Many types of conflicts took place and after the decision of the Supreme Court in the end, the foundation stone of Ram temple is being done on August 5.”

Shanta Kumar said that due to Corona, no program in public could be possible in Himachal and in Palampur, to celebrate this occasion. But we the residents of Himachal will especially remember the day.

“The Palampur proposal of BJP also has a historical significance in the construction of Ram temple. I request honourable Chief Minister Shri Jairam Thakur and the State President of BJP Shri Suresh Kashyap to appeal to the people of Himachal Pradesh that when Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi lay the foundation stone of Ram Temple in Ayodhya at 12:15 on August 5, all Himachal residents must offer flowers on the picture of Lord Rama in their respective homes,” he said.

Shanta added that after the working committee meeting in 1989 there was a historic rally in Palampur. “After that I made a historic march from Palampur to Shimla and a few days later BJP had a historic victory in Himachal Legislative Assembly elections and I became the Chief Minister of Himachal for the second time. The period from June 1989 to 1990 was full of historical events in HP”, said Shanta.
