Historic ‘Vadi Diksha’ of 64 Aspirants to Be Held in Mumbai on March 7
64 Mumukshus Embrace the Path of Renunciation at Borivali’s Chikuwadi Ground
Mumbai (Anil Bedaag): Mumbai witnessed an unforgettable and historic spiritual moment in the annals of Jain tradition when 64 mumukshus renounced worldly life and accepted Jain diksha during the ‘Sanyam Rang Utsav’ held at Chikuwadi Ground in Borivali West. Conducted in the presence of thousands of devotees and community members, the grand ceremony filled the entire area with profound spiritual energy.
The event was held under the sacred guidance of Gacchadhipati Acharya SomSundarSuriji, Acharya YogTilakSuriji, Acharya KushalChandraSuriji, and Acharya PunyaSundarSuriji of the ShantichandraSuri community, along with several monks and nuns. With the blessings of the revered Acharyas, the initiates accepted the rigorous vows of a life of discipline and renunciation.
At around 9:30 a.m., during the ritual offering of Rajoharan, the entire ground echoed with chants of “Jainam Jayati Shasanam.” The ceremony was deeply emotional for many families—while there was pride in seeing loved ones walk the path of renunciation, there was also a sense of heartfelt separation, with faith remaining paramount.
A special highlight of the festival was the inspiring resolve of young spiritual volunteers Rishabhbhai and his wife Sonalben from the Adhyatam Parivar, who renounced worldly life in their youth and embraced lifelong celibacy, motivating the gathered audience.
Maharashtra Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha attended the occasion, paying tribute to the initiates and their families. Several prominent Jain community leaders, trustees, and representatives of various organizations were also present.
As part of the Shri Shantichandra Shatabdi Mahotsav, the grand ‘Vadi Diksha’ ceremony of these 64 initiates will be held again in Borivali on March 7, where a large gathering of devotees is expected.
