HIRD Director Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan urges to Embrace Swadeshi as Much as Possible to build an 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'

Safidon, April 30, 2026: Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD), said that to build a self-reliant and self-sufficient India (Atmanirbhar Bharat), it is essential to cultivate a spirit of 'Swadeshi' in our food, devotional practices, language, architecture, and travel.

He was speaking as the Chief Guest at a health check-up camp organized at the Government Senior Secondary School in Khera Khemavati. While interacting with the students and teachers, he urged the students to pay equal attention to their health alongside their academic studies and self-study. During the event, departmental officials and teachers specifically raised awareness among the students regarding the importance of HPV vaccination and the ongoing campaign related to it.

Chief Guest Dr. Chauhan remarked that awareness regarding health, coupled with timely vaccination, can help prevent numerous health-related problems in the future. He provided the students and villagers with information regarding various government schemes related to health and explained in detail the benefits of various health services, including the Ayushman Bharat scheme. He noted that the government is implementing numerous schemes to improve the health of the general public, and the benefits of these initiatives must reach every eligible individual. He also emphasized the necessity of undergoing periodic health check-ups and vaccinations.

Calling for the use of indigenous goods, Dr. Chauhan asserted that to ensure the country's economic strength and to build a self-reliant India, we must embrace indigenous products as much as possible. He said that the use of indigenous goods not only strengthens the national economy but also provides a boost to local artisans and industries. Placing special emphasis on the importance of the Hindi language, he noted that the spirit and directives of the Constitution mandate that we conduct all our daily affairs in Hindi—India's primary official language—and inspire the new generation to respect and utilize the Hindi language as well.

During this camp, Pediatrician Dr. Lavkesh Agarwal and his team, along with Dentist Dr. Gagan Rana, conducted health check-ups for the students. Rajendra Singroha, Nitin Agarwal, Sanjeev, Manoj, Dr. Harish, Satish, Ram Niwas, Hariom, and Principal Jasveer were present, along with Ram Singh, Sandeep, and SMC member Shamsher on the occasion.
