HIRD Director Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan elaborates on the public welfare schemes and achievements of the Central and State Governments

Karnal, March 7, 2026: Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD), Nilokheri, and State Spokesperson of BJP, participated as the keynote speaker at the Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Training Maha Abhiyan organized by the BJP Urban Mandal.

In his address, Dr. Chauhan elaborated on the public welfare schemes and achievements of the Central and Haryana governments. Program chairperson and youth BJP leader Sankalp Bhandari, welcomed Dr. Chauhan by presenting him with a turban.

BJP State Spokesperson Dr. Chauhan said that the Central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Haryana government under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini have made historic progress in improving the lives of farmers, the poor, women, and youth.

The HIRD Director informed that through the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, financial assistance worth thousands of crores of rupees has been directly transferred to the accounts of approximately 20 lakh farmers in Haryana. Meanwhile, under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, large sums have been paid to millions of farmers as compensation for losses caused by natural disasters, strengthening their economic security. Similarly, through the Mera Pani Meri Virasat Yojana, farmers are being encouraged to shift from paddy to less water-intensive crops, thereby promoting water conservation.

Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan informed that the Haryana government has increased the per-acre incentive to farmers to promote Direct Seeded Rice (DSR), which is reducing cultivation costs and saving water. He said that the government is also making payments to farmers directly through DBT, which has increased transparency and trust. He added that the state government has fixed the most remunerative prices in the country for sugarcane farmers, thereby increasing their income. Additionally, special attention is being paid to the development of modern markets and horticulture infrastructure to strengthen the agricultural infrastructure.

He said that the purpose of the training programs is to provide party workers with accurate information about the government's policies, programs, and achievements so that they can go out into the community and effectively communicate these achievements to the people. He called upon the party workers to play an active role in ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach the last person in society with a spirit of public service. A large number of BJP officials and workers were present during the training program.
