HIRD Director Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan calls upon Students to become Dutiful, Aware, and Responsible Citizens towards their Motherland
Nilokheri, January 7, 2026: The National Service Scheme (NSS), established in 1969 with the objective of connecting youth to the process of nation-building, has the motto "Not Me, But You," which fosters a spirit of service, cooperation, and sensitivity towards society. These views were shared by Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD). He was addressing the closing ceremony of the seven-day special NSS camp at PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Nilokheri, as the chief guest. Principal Rajni Verma, NSS District Coordinator Subha Singh, and NSS Officer Mahendra Singh welcomed the chief guest with a bouquet of flowers.
HIRD Director Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan said that the National Service Scheme camp strengthens leadership qualities, discipline, social responsibility, and a culture of teamwork among students. He motivated the students to become dutiful, aware, and responsible citizens towards their motherland, saying that the country's progress is possible only when the younger generation makes social service, cleanliness, environmental protection, and human values an integral part of their lives, along with education. He appreciated the work of the volunteers who participated in the camp and urged them to continue their service-oriented work in the future as well.
Chief Guest Dr. Chauhan respectfully remembered the great sacrifice of the Four Sahibzadas, saying that their lives are an unparalleled example of courage, sacrifice, truth, and unwavering adherence to righteousness. He called upon the students to draw inspiration from such great sacrifices and inculcate moral values in their lives.
During the event, the cultural programs and glimpses of NSS activities presented by the students impressed the audience. The social work, awareness campaigns, and disciplined activities conducted during the camp were appreciated. Vijay Kumar, Balraj, Preeti Lal, Pawan Kumar, Mulkh Raj, Rajendra Middha, and other dignitaries, teachers, NSS volunteers, and students were present on the occasion.
