HIRD Director Dr. Chauhan leads Initiative to Ensure Clean Drinking Water at Nilokheri Railway Station

Nilokheri, August 24, 2026: Passengers at Nilokheri railway station will soon have access to clean drinking water, with Multani Sabha taking the initiative to install a water cooler on the premises and seeking the necessary railway permission.
Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD) and member of the Railway Ministry’s Hindi Advisory Committee inspected the Nilokheri Railway station on Monday and reviewed passenger amenities and other arrangements.
Dr. Chauhan said providing basic facilities at public places such as railway stations should be a priority. He welcomed the initiative by Multani Sabha and urged social organisations to come forward for public welfare.
Station Master Narendra apprised Dr. Chauhan of the existing facilities, saying the station currently lacks a water cooler, adequate toilets and CCTV cameras. Proposals for these facilities have already been sent to higher authorities.
Dr. Chauhan also stressed the need to strengthen passenger safety and promote greater use of Hindi in official work to make information and services more accessible to the public.
Multani Sabha president Ashwani Mehandiratta said the organisation decided to install the water cooler after considering the difficulties faced by passengers during summer. The organisation is seeking only the required railway permission so the facility can be made operational at the earliest. Members Saurabh Arora, Johnny Mehta, Hemant and others were present on the occasion.
