Hindi is our cultural identity and the soul of our administration: HIRD Director Dr. Virendra Singh Chauhan

Dr. Virendra Singh Chauhan, a member of the Hindi Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Railways and Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD), visited the Karnal railway station and met with the station superintendent and other officials. During his visit, he reviewed the official work, correspondence, notice boards, and records being maintained in Hindi at the station.

Karnal, December 29, 2025: Dr. Virendra Singh Chauhan, a member of the Hindi Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Railways and Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD), visited the Karnal railway station and met with the station superintendent and other officials. During his visit, he reviewed the official work, correspondence, notice boards, and records being maintained in Hindi at the station.

Interacting with the departmental officers and staff, Dr. Virendra Singh Chauhan said that Hindi is not just our official language, but also our cultural identity and the soul of our administration. Working in the official language Hindi facilitates convenience and ease of understanding for common citizens and strengthens communication between the administration and the public. He said that the effective use of Hindi in a large public service department like the railways also strengthens national unity.

Dr. Chauhan observed the various office registers kept at the station and found that all the main registers were being maintained systematically in Hindi. He appreciated the station administration for this, saying that this level of work in Hindi is exemplary for other stations and reflects the employees' awareness of the official language.

Dr. Virendra Singh Chauhan said that working in Hindi should not be considered a burden, but a matter of pride. He urged the officials to further increase the use of Hindi in accordance with the Official Languages Act and prioritize it in daily work.

Station Superintendent Sanjay Saxena said that continuous efforts are being made at Karnal Railway Station to work in Hindi. Boards, notices, and official correspondence are being done in Hindi as much as possible, and employees are also being encouraged to do so.

Station Master Vikas Maan welcomed Dr. Chauhan and described his guidance as inspiration for the station administration. He assured that the use of Hindi at Karnal Railway Station would be made even stronger and more effective in the future.
