Dharamsala, December 17, 2013: ‘Himachal government shall request the central government to conduct the meeting of the national board constituted for the export of animals at its earlier”, said Industry Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Mukesh Agnihotri in Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday. He said that board headed by PM has not met from past few years.
Giving the government’s reply on a motion of Gulab Singh (BJP) under rule 130 on monkeys and wild animals menace in the state, Agnihotri who was speaking on behalf of Forest Minister Thakur S Bharmouri said, “If the ban on the export of monkeys is lifted the farmers of the state shall be relieved.” He said that the state government shall also approach the state High court for the vocation of stay, imposed on the killing wild animals including monkeys under crop protection act, so that the farmers can protect their crops.
Agnihotri Said that so far 71,000 monkeys strelised, the government shall add 3 new sterilising centers to add to the already existing 4 in the state. He also said that the state government once again raised the matter with the centre to include crop grounding in MNERGA to help farmers of the state. The government shall also raise hording to discourage pilgrims coming to the state from feeding monkeys and stray animals around highways. The government is also planning to provide 75% expenditure to cover fields with barbed wire fencing.
The discussion was initiated by Thakur Gulab Singh (BJP) and 11speakers from both sides took part in it including the former CM, PK Dhumal.
