Dharamsala, September 16, 2013: Overnight rain and hail storm in and around Dharamsala has given a white wash on the Dhouladhar mountains of the Kangra valley with the first and fresh layer of snow fall of the season.
This snowfall on the higher reaches of the snow ranges have brought down temperatures in the adjoining areas of Kangra district.
A Met official said Monday that Shimla and Manali also witnessed light rains, other hill stations, including Kasauli, Palampur, Kangra, Kufri and Narkanda had thundershowers with moderate rain on Sunday night.
Sujanpur Tira in Kangra district had 39mm of rain, followed by Kasol-26, Naina Devi & Amb-22 each, Kheri & Gaggal-21 each, Bangana (F)-20, Nadaun-19,Dalhousie (AWS)-16, Guler, Jhandutta & Bharmaur-14 each, Dharamshala & Bilaspur (AWS)-13 each, Ghamroor and Kandaghat-11mm each of rain in past 24 hours.
The lowest temperature recorded in the state was at Keylong (5.3o C), Manali town, saw a low of 8.2 degrees Celsius Monday, Shimla, experienced a low of 10.6 degrees Celsius, a fall from Sunday's 15 degrees Celsius.
Beside Dhouladhar ranges, Hills overlooking the picturesque tourist destinations of Chitkul, a village close to the China border, in Kinnaur district and the majestic Rohtang Pass (13,050 feet), located 52 km from Manali, saw light snow, according to reports.
