Dharamsala, September 12, 2023: The Himachal Pradesh government is making significant efforts to boost tourism in the state, focusing on adventure, religious, and natural tourism infrastructure. The goal is to welcome five crore tourists annually in the future, and they plan to spend Rs 2500 crore on tourism development with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). A substantial portion of this amount, Rs 1300 crore, has already been approved. Additionally, a budget provision of Rs 400 crore has been made for promoting tourism activities in the current financial year.

Key points discussed in the meeting chaired by RS Bali, Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC), include:

Economic Impact: Tourism is considered the backbone of the state's economy, providing livelihoods directly and indirectly to thousands of families. The state is focusing on infrastructure development and showcasing its natural beauty to attract more tourists.

Tourist Safety: Himachal Pradesh is recognized as a safe tourist destination, not only within India but also for international tourists.

Infrastructure Development: Various projects are in progress, including expanding Kangra Airport, building an international-level convention center in Dharamshala, establishing a Zoological Park in Bankhandi, constructing an Old Age Wellness Resort and High-End Fountain in Nagrota Bagwan, developing a proposed tourism village in Narghota, and more. These projects aim to enhance the state's appeal to tourists.

Hi-tech Buses: The state plans to introduce hi-tech buses for tourists, similar to those found in foreign countries, to offer comfortable and scenic transportation to tourist destinations.
