Ludhiana, May 7, 2022: Under PM Mitra Scheme, in 1000 acres, textile park is proposed to be established at Koom Kalan, Ludhiana. This park will nourish all kinds of Textile Activities in the District through various Industrial units.

To assess the ground level requirements, a high level delegation had visited Ludhiana yesterday (May 6). Vijoy Kumar Singh IAS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Textile, Government of India was heading the delegation while Manoj Sinha, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Textile, GoI and other officials from the ministry were also present.

He visited the proposed project site at Koom Kalan. Surbhi Malik, DC Ludhiana and Sandeep Rishi, IAS gave information about the layout of the proposed site. ACA GLADA Shikha Bhagat, PCS was also present during the site visit.
Thereafter, the delegation visited Youngman Woolen Mills Pvt Ltd at Vill Seera (Rahon Road), which has been selected under the prestigious PLI scheme of Govt of India.

An interaction meeting especially with the representatives of Textile Industry was held at Circuit House. During the meeting, Vijoy Kumar Singh, gave a brief of the PM-MITRA scheme that it would be a Plug n Play model where 500 acres (out of 1000 Acres) will be reserved for manufacturing activity and rest will be for common utilities (Roads, CETPs, STPs,  Boiler etc) Special activities (R & D, Testing labs, Training), Exhibition & Convention Centres etc. Discussions were held at length by the team, to understood the grass root problems of the Textile industry and the necessary infrastructure required to be developed at the Proposed park like testing labs, worker’s hostels, textile machinery manufacturing industry etc. The industrialists raised various issues and gave suggestions for better future of the Textile Industry.

Sibin C. IAS, Director of Industries and Commerce, Punjab, Amit Kumar Panchal IAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner (RD), Mahesh Khanna, Joint Director, Sanjay Charak  Executive Director R/O Textile Commissioner Amritsar, and Rakesh Kansal, General Manager, District Industries Centre, Ludhiana were also present in the meeting.
