High level delegation from Kandi area to apprise CM of problems of people on Feb 3

Chandigarh, February 1, 2014: A high level delegation of leaders including Cabinet Ministers, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries and MLAs of Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP  from four districts of  Kandi area would meet Punjab Chief Minister on February 3 to apprise him of the problems of the Kandi area. This was stated by the SAD Secretary and Spokesman and MLA of Roopnagar Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema.
In a statement released here today, Dr. Cheema said that leaders from Mohali, Roopnagar, Hoshiarpur and Pathankot would be part of delegation including cabinet Minister Mr. Madan Mohal Mittal, Dinesh Babbu Deputy Speaker Vidhan Sabha ,Sohan Singh Thandal, Chaudhary Nand Lal and Mohinder Kaur Josh (all Chief Parliamentary Secretaries), Surinder Singh Thekedar MLA, Ujagar Singh Badali former MLA and district President of SAD Mohali unit, Ashwani Sharma former President BJP Punjab unit and presently MLA, Tikhshan Sud former Minister, Seema Kumari MLA, Sukhjit Kaur Shahi MLA and Arunesh Sakir former minister besides Dr. Cheema himself.
Dr. Cheema further said that problems of the Kandi area are different from other parts of the state and these problems have made life of people of this area miserable. He said that acute shortage of water for irrigation and potable water and constant damage to crops by the wild animals has become major cause of concern. He said that although the Punjab government has installed deep tubewells for irrigation purpose but the farmers from this economically backward area are forced to pay for the bills for this facility.
