Hero DMC Heart Institute starts senior focused OPD
Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, along with Sunil Kant Munjal, inaugurated the OPD

Ludhiana, August 6, 2025: In a commendable initiative toward elderly healthcare, Hero DMC Heart Institute, Ludhiana has introduced a dedicated Geriatric Cardiac OPD for senior citizens aged 75 years and above.
Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, who is also Vice President of the DMCH Managing Society, inaugurated the OPD on Tuesday evening. He was informed that the outpatient department will operate every Saturday from 12 PM to 5 PM and will focus on providing specialised heart care tailored to the needs of the elderly.
Arora was further apprised that, under the theme “Specialised Heart Care for Seniors,” the OPD will offer a comprehensive range of services including mobility assistance, cardiac evaluation and consultation, medicine consultation, fall risk and mobility assessment, physiotherapy, ECG, ECHO, and other basic investigations. Additional support services such as individualised nutrition planning, psychosocial and lifestyle counselling, and memory and cognitive health checks (subject to availability) will also be provided.
Congratulating all those who conceptualised the initiative, Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora lauded the effort and called it a noble step. He said, “Taking care of elderly people is a true service to society. This initiative reflects both vision and compassion, and I wholeheartedly appreciate Hero DMC Heart Institute for leading the way in senior citizen-focused healthcare.” He noted that this initiative underscores the institute’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for senior citizens through compassionate and data-driven cardiac care.
Further appreciating the effort, Arora emphasised the importance of compassionate caregiving. He urged the medical and support staff at the OPD to treat every patient as they would treat their own parents or grandparents. “Elderly patients deserve not just medical attention but emotional warmth and dignity. I sincerely hope that every member of the staff treats each senior citizen with the same respect and care they would offer to their own elders,” he added.
Stressing the need for awareness, Arora further highlighted the importance of widely publicising this initiative. He said efforts should be made to spread the word across communities so that the maximum number of elderly people can benefit from the services being offered under this noble program.
DMC&H Managing Society president Sunil Kant Munjal, Secretary Bipin Gupta, Treasurer Mukesh Verma, DMC&H Principal Dr. G. S. Wander, Dr. Bishav Mohan, and Amrit Nagpal were among those present on the occasion.
