The Centre for Public Health, Panjab University, organised a health awareness session under the mentorship and guidance of Dr. Manoj Kumar, Chairperson, Poonam Sharma and Dr. Bharat Bajaj, Assistant Professor at Girls Hostel No. 10, Sec-25, Panjab University.

Chandigarh, March 18, 2026: The Centre for Public Health, Panjab University, organised a health awareness session under the mentorship and guidance of Dr. Manoj Kumar, Chairperson, Poonam Sharma and Dr. Bharat Bajaj, Assistant Professor at Girls Hostel No. 10, Sec-25, Panjab University. 
The session was conducted in the presence of the Warden Dr. Varinder Kaur.
The awareness talk was delivered by Dr. Mamta Sharma, MPH 2nd Year, on the topic “Energy Drinks and Their Impact on Health.” During the session, the speaker highlighted the increasing consumption of energy drinks among young people and discussed their possible health effects.Dr. Mamta Sharma explained the ingredients commonly found in energy drinks such as caffeine, sugar, and stimulants, and emphasized their potential impact on health including sleep disturbances, anxiety, increased heart rate, and other health concerns when consumed excessively. She also encouraged students to adopt healthier alternatives and make informed lifestyle choices.The session was interactive and informative, and the students actively participated by asking questions and sharing their views. 
Dr. Varinder Kaur appreciated the session and emphasized that more such awareness session are needed as today’s Gen Z is highly attracted towards these energy drink.The participants also appreciated the initiative and acknowledged that the session helped raise awareness about the health risks associated with excessive consumption of energy drinks.
