Rohtak, May 18, 2025: Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has said that if the BJP government had taken the right steps at the right time, Haryana would have definitely got its rightful share of water. He said the BJP failed to get justice for Haryana despite being in power both in the state and the central government.
“It is very unfortunate that despite being in power both in the state and the centre, BJP could not get water for Haryana. BJP's double engine government has double-cheated the public. No engine worked at the time of need to get Haryana its rightful share of water and quench the thirst of the fields. Both the governments, from the state to the centre, have shirked their responsibility,” he stated.
Hooda said this time there was no shortage of water in Bhakra and neither did Haryana demand additional water. “Haryana is only demanding its rightful share of water, but due to BJP's denial, it could not get that too. Despite repeated demands, BJP did not ensure proper participation by appointing people from Haryana in Bhakra Beas Management Board,” he added.
The former Chief Minister said that instead of taking any effective steps, the state government just made empty promises and passed the time. Now, since Haryana is sure to get water from 21st May, some or the other trick was adopted to mislead the general public from 15th March till now.
Talking to media persons in Rohtak, Hooda also reacted to the arrests made on the charges of spying for Pakistan. Hooda said that this is a serious matter and is related to the security of the country. The government should investigate the whole matter in depth. During this, Rohtak MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra was also present.
