Haryana Women and Child Development Department to launch Bal Swachhta Mission

Chandigarh, November 13, 2015: Haryana Women and Child Development Department has decided to launch the Bal Swachhta Mission all across the state on November 14, 2015 during which children at the Anganwadi centres would be sensitised and involved in various aspects of hygiene and safe sanitation.
        While giving this information here today, Haryana Women and Child Development Minister, Mrs. Kavita Jain, said that this mission would be launched keeping in view the nationwide sanitation initiative launched by the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, under the banner of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’.
        Mrs. Jain said that various activities would be conducted under the Bal Swachhta Mission, including proper cleaning and mopping of Anganwadi centre buildings. Under the Clean Self Campaign, Anganwadi Workers would ensure that good personal hygiene practices are ensured by all the children attending Anganwadi Centres. These Workers would ensure that children know how to wash hands properly with soap and water before and after having food and after using the toilet, combing hair, washing face and eyes and trimming nails and practice these regularly.
        She added that other activities to be undertaken under the Bal Swachhta Mission include ensuring clean food, utensils, washing area and water source and storage, clean toilets, holding Special Village Health Nutrition Day during the period and holding Mother’s Committee meetings during the period.
        The Minister added that simple and joyful activities like drawing competitions and toy making, etc, would be conducted according to themes and a competition on clean Anganwadi centres would be organised at the block level and the best centre would be awarded a certificate.
Also, the Department has asked all District Programme Officers to organise Bal Mela at circle level on November 14, 2015.
        Mrs. Jain said that various activities would be organised on the occasion. These would include Clean Child competition pertaining to personal hygiene, fancy dress competition, healthy baby show, poem and rhyme competition, clay modelling competition, drawing competition and dance and cultural activities./ (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
