Rohtak, May 3, 2026: Haryana Governor and Chancellor, Prof. Aseem Kumar Ghosh, inaugurated the annual art exhibition 'Abhivyanjana' of the Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak, on Sunday evening as the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Mitra Ghosh. Also present on the occasion were K.G. Suresh, Director of the India Habitat Centre and SUPVA’s 'First Lady,' Prof. Gayatri Raina. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya and Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha welcomed the guests.
At the commencement of the inaugural ceremony, the Governor, along with the other dignitaries, offered flowers and paid respects to the statue of Surya Kavi Dada Lakhmi Chand. Following this, the exhibition was formally inaugurated with flag-hoisting and lamp lighting. Subsequently, he visited the art exhibition set up at the Faculty of Design in the university campus. He closely observed the artworks on display and interacted with the students to gather details regarding their creations. He lauded the students for their talent, hard work, and dedication, while also commending the university management for organizing such an event. He said that such events provide students with a better platform to showcase their talent.
During the event, the Governor also released SUPVA’s newsletter, 'Abhivyakti —The Powerful Voice of Art Devotion’. This inaugural newsletter of the university encapsulates all cultural, academic, and other activities conducted between June 2025 and April 2026. Prepared under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya and Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha, this 24-page newsletter is now slated to be published regularly every three months.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya said that the art exhibition 'Abhivyanjana' will be opened to the general public starting Tuesday, May 5. From May 5 to May 8, visitors will be able to view the exhibition between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM. He said that this is not just an exhibition, but a showcase of students' dedication, hard work, thinking, talent, and emotions, where PG and UG students of Faculty of Visual Arts have displayed their year-long efforts and projects. More than two thousand artworks are being exhibited in the exhibition.
According to Vinay Kumar, Coordinator of the Faculty of Visual Arts, the exhibition features a diverse array of disciplines, including Applied Art, Animation, Painting, Sculpture, and Printmaking. In a particularly unique display, one student has transformed the very sky into a canvas. This student has crafted a distinctive artwork using twigs—pieces of tree branches—which are suspended with the aid of ropes; arranged in this manner, the twig segments form letters that, when viewed from below, appear as words floating against the backdrop of the sky. Furthermore, through their artworks, the students have magnificently portrayed themes such as women's empowerment, rural settings, the essence of motherhood, and the magic of letters and colors. Additionally, the exhibition captivates visitors with models crafted from soil, clay, and cardboard; sculptures fashioned from steel and iron wires; digital art created through photography and animation; paintings; poster making; and artworks ingeniously created from waste materials.
Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha said that the artworks displayed in the exhibition were created entirely by the students themselves, who also took the initiative to design the entire exhibition layout in collaboration with the faculty members. She appealed to art enthusiasts and the general public to visit the exhibition in large numbers, thereby ensuring that the students' hard work and dedication are duly recognized and celebrated.
