Haryana Contractors Seek Extension Until March 31 for Pending Road Projects

Chandigarh, October 13, 2026: The All Haryana PWD Contractors Association has sought an extension until March 31, 2027, to complete pending road construction projects across Haryana. At a meeting held at Nirman Sadan today, the association said that despite two previous extensions—first until June 30 and then until September 30—a large number of projects remain incomplete, with their total value estimated at ₹1,500 crore.

Association Chairman Ashok Jain, President Jai Bhagwan and Vice-President Manoj Chahal said disruptions in the global supply chain had affected the availability of construction materials, delaying road projects. Essential materials continue to be in short supply, while their prices have risen considerably, making it difficult for contractors to complete the work within the stipulated timeframe.

The association warned that failure to grant a one-time extension until March 31, 2027, could result in substantial financial losses for contractors. With significant capital tied up in unfinished projects, many contractors could face a serious financial crisis.

The association urged the government to extend the deadlines in view of the prevailing circumstances and facilitate the completion of pending roadworks. It also sought an extension of the deadline for bitumen imports. Alternatively, it suggested that the government should arrange the supply of bitumen itself to ensure the timely completion of road projects.

“If Haryana wants well-maintained, smooth roads, the government must extend a helping hand to contractors,” the association said.
