Jalandhar, November 04, 2025: Guru Nanak Study Centre of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar in collaboration with the Department of Punjabi and Department of History organized a special Guest Lecture on the topic ‘Guru Nanak Bani: Universal Solidarity’ to celebrate the 557th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
On this occasion, Dr. Malkiat Singh (Assistant Professor, Department of Punjabi, Trinity College, Jalandhar) participated as the speaker.
Dr. Malkiat Singh, while addressing the audience, discussed the teachings of Guru Ji in the context of universal solidarity. He adduced that one needs to have a secular perspective when it comes to religion, while humanity is the biggest religion of all.
However, under the influence of social media, religious norms are being violated, amounting to immorality, therefore, we should all keep our morality intact while reading and worshiping. He held that students be familiar with ‘Shabad Gyan’ and should have an inclination to read the text to connect with its inordinate influence. He said that there were such revolutionary Gurus who fought for the social interests and rights of every class and spread the message of love and care for nature. Therefore, it is our moral duty to create a harmonious and just society.
President Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Dr Pooja Prashar appreciated the special initiative taken by Guru Nanak Studies Center and Departments of Punjabi and History.
