Talwandi Sabo, October 15, 2014: Every new phase of life brings with it lots of thrill and excitement. Similar emotions were witnessed at the Fresher’s Party organised by University College of Computer Applications of Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo wherein the new students received a heartwarming welcome by their seniors.

Gurlabh Singh Sidhu, Chairman, Dr N.S Malhi, Vice Chancellor, Satish Goswami, Registrar, Dr. Narinder Singh, Director Finance, Dr. D.R.Godara, Dean Student Welfare, were the Chief Guests. Dean of the College Dr. Vijay Laxmi extended a hearty welcome to them.

The event started with the Welcome Speech, Students of various streams presented an entertaining cultural extravaganza comprising beautiful dances, melodious songs, engaging Bhangra, Malki Keema and Gidha etc. The hallmark of the day was modeling contest and the celebrations reached its zenith when the new students, clad in elegant attires, sashayed down the ramp with poise and grace, The brains of the participants were put to test in the question answer round and Dare Round after qualifying all these rounds Muskan BCA 2nd Year and Harman of BCA 1st were adjudged Miss Fresher and Vikas and Manoj both from BCA 1st semester were bracketed and declared Mr. Fresher, respectively. Faculty members Priyanka, Nisha and Anshul were comprised the judgement.

Gurlabh Singh Sidhu appreciated the efforts of the students and said that a wonderful show was put up by them. He also encouraged the students to explore the world around them and to put more emphasis on practical aspects to meet the corporate sector requirement.

Dr. N.S. Malhi said that such contests undertaken in a healthy manner are crucial to the over-all development of the students. He shared that students should try to inculcate I(Q)-Intellectual Intelligence, S(Q)-Spiritual Intelligence and E(Q)-Emotional Intelligence in their personalities.

 Dr. D.R.Godara commended the hard work put in by the participants who left no stone unturned in making this day a special one and added that such events instill a sense of co-operation and togetherness among the seniors and juniors.

Dr. Vijay Lakshmi (Dean UCCA Department) and Dr.D.R.Godara (Dean Student Welfare) presented them tokens of appreciation. Harpal Singh proposed the vote of thanks.
