Guru Kashi University to honor three Progressive farmers at Guru Kashi Gyan-Vigyan Khetibari Mela

Talwandi Sabo, March 2, 2014: All arrangements have been made for the Guru Kashi University Gyan-Vigyan Khetibari Mela to be held on March 3. Special attention has been paid to enlighten the farmers about all round development of agriculture problems being experienced in horticulture, challenges being faced in cotton crop, gainful utilisation of agriculture related professions and the odds posing threat standing crops. Sukhwinder Singh Aulkh, Ex-MLA & now Chairman, Punjab State Seed Corporation will inaugurate the Mela at 10 am. Gurpreet Singh Maluka, Chairman, Zila Parishad Bathinda will be the Guest Honour.
In this Mela, seed on certified seed of developed varieties will be sold by PAU and Punseed Besides, Agriculture related literature, Vegetable seeds & seedlings and fruit crop seedlings will also be available. Dr. Ajmer Singh Sidhu, Dean, College of Agriculture of the University and Dr. D.R.Godara, Organizing Secretary stated that eminent agriculture scientists of various disciplines will share their views with the farmers and they will answer to the quarries of the  farmers too. Dr. J.S. Dhaliwal, Chancellor, Gurlabh Singh Sidhu, Chairman, Sukhraj Singh Sidhu, Managing Director, Er. Sukhwinder Singh, General Secretary and Dr. Navjot Singh Dhaliwal will also grace the occasion with their presence. Dr. N.S. Malhi, Vice-Chancellor will deliver a speech highlighting various problems being faced by the farmers and the thought provoking suggestions to tackle them.
Akashbani Bathinda will make live broadcast of the Mela. On this occasion, three progressive Farmers of the region namely  Sukhpal Singh Bhullar of village Ghuman Kalan (Mansa), Gurcharn Singh Mann, Tungwali(Bathinda) and Sukhdeep Singh Chatha, Talwandi Sabo will be honoured by the University for their splendid achievements in the fields of Horticulture, Bee-Keeping and Animal Husbandry  respectively. A delegation of P.A.U. Kisan Club (Regd.) led by their president, Ajit Singh Aujla and a group of Ludhiana Navjivan Kisan Club. Aliyana (Fazk.) headed by their president Karnail Singh are also actively participating in the Mela.
