Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa connects with 500 Students under Nanhe Kadam at Government Primary School, Giaspura
Punjab Child Rights Commission strengthens grassroots awareness on child safety and education
Ludhiana, May 15, 2026: The Nanhe Kadam initiative was successfully organized at Government Primary School, Giaspura, Ludhiana, with the objective of promoting awareness about child rights, safety and education among young students. The programme was led by Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa, Vice Chairperson, Punjab Child Rights Commission, who interacted with students, teachers and school authorities through an engaging and informative session.
During the visit, Bawa directly connected with nearly 500 students, encouraging them to understand their rights, stay connected to education and confidently speak up against any form of abuse or neglect. She emphasized the importance of a safe and nurturing school environment while sensitizing children about personal safety, emotional well-being and the harmful effects of drug abuse in society.
Special emphasis was laid on the Child Helpline (1098), with students and teachers being encouraged to use the service whenever required. Teachers were also guided on identifying behavioural concerns among children and providing timely support.
The programme was conducted in the presence of Jagroop Singh, Head Teacher, along with the school staff, who appreciated the initiative and its positive impact on students. Support for the initiative was also extended by Aas Ehsaas NGO, which distributed stationery items among students as a gesture of encouragement.
The event concluded on a motivating note, reinforcing the collective commitment towards creating a safer, aware and empowered future for children.
