Gujarat begins exercise to geo-tag manufacturing MSMEs, integrate data with 'PM Gati Shakti'
Gujarat is set to undertake GIS-based geo-tagging and mapping of its manufacturing micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), with the data to be integrated with the 'PM Gati Shakti' portal to support infrastructure planning and policy formulation for the sector.
Gandhinagar, Sep 17 (IANS) Gujarat is set to undertake GIS-based geo-tagging and mapping of its manufacturing micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), with the data to be integrated with the 'PM Gati Shakti' portal to support infrastructure planning and policy formulation for the sector.
The project, titled ‘Mapping of Manufacturing MSMEs with the PM Gati Shakti Portal’, is being implemented by the MSME Commissionerate of the state government under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme of the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
Under the initiative, manufacturing MSME units registered on the Udyog Portal will be geo-tagged and mapped. Gujarat Info Petro Limited (GIPL) has been entrusted with carrying out the mapping exercise.
Authorised representatives of GIPL will visit MSME units across the state to geo-tag the establishments and collect and verify the required information.
The MSME Commissionerate has asked all concerned units to cooperate with the representatives and provide the information needed for the exercise.
The mapping is intended to create an integrated and systematic database of manufacturing MSMEs in Gujarat.
The database is expected to provide information that can be used for infrastructure planning, policy formulation and more effective implementation of government schemes.
The integration of MSME-related data with the PM Gati Shakti portal will also strengthen data-based planning and decision-making for the sector.
By making the location of MSME units and related details available in a structured GIS-based system, the exercise is expected to help identify requirements and facilitate need-based support and facilities.
The MSME Commissionerate has also called upon industry associations across the state to extend full cooperation to GIPL and its authorised representatives for the successful implementation of the project.
The initiative is being undertaken as part of the RAMP scheme, which focuses on improving the performance and institutional capacity of the MSME sector.
In Gujarat, the mapping exercise will bring the geographical location and relevant information of manufacturing MSMEs into a common data framework linked to the PM Gati Shakti platform.
"The exercise will help make planning and decision-making for the MSME sector more data-driven, while providing a structured base for future infrastructure requirements, policy measures and delivery of government support," officials added.
