Guest lecture on topic “Tripartite mission of Academic medical centres – Changing Landscape & New Opportunities”

Ludhiana, March 13, 2023: A guest lecture on the topic “Tripartite mission of Academic medical centres – Changing Landscape & New Opportunities” in  Dumra Auditorium for the faculty members and resident doctors of Dayanand Medical College & Hospital. The lecture was delivered by Dr Vibha N. Lama , Henry Sewall Research Professor, Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine, Professor of Internal Medicine, Vice Chair of Basic and Translational Institute, Faculty, Graduate Program in Immunology & Program in Biomedical Science (PIMS).

Principal, Dr Sandeep Puri welcomed the guest speaker and thanked her for giving valuable time to DMCH and introduced her to the audience.

In her lecture, Dr Vibha N Lama talked about the role of doctor as clinician, Research, teacher. She stressed upon the need to balance the various roles  so as to justice. There is an urgent need to bring knowledge from patient’s bed side to lab and vice versa. This knowledge needs to go to community to help them.

A constant endeavour must be made to generate new knowledge to help patient in community at large. Further, Dr Puri added that a similar role played by the doctors at DMCH. The management provides the all necessary role to the faculty to carry out multifaceted role a doctor plays in the society.
