Guest lecture to make students aware of responsibilities of journalist

Jalandhar, October 17, 2019: The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organized a Guest Lecture to make students aware of the responsibilities of a Journalist.
Mr.I.P.Singh, Assistant Editor of Times of India, was the key resource person. He expressed his views about how a Journalist should be. He put forth that curiosity is the primary quality which should be in a journalist. He should analyse everything in detail about any incident before coming to any conclusion. A Journalist should be aware of its duties and responsibilities towards society. Principal Dr. Sucharita Sharma expressing her views about this Guest Lecture said that in today's era society is mostly influenced by media. So, it becomes a moral responsibility of a Journalist to lead society in the right direction by presenting the news and stories in genuine manner and not just cook up stories to grasp attention. She added that for students of Journalism; such interactions with people who are working in the field will be quite beneficial for them. She appreciated the efforts of the teachers, Ms. Navneet Pal Kaur and Ms. Nayala Arora, of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and also inspired them to keep organizing such activities in future as well.
